My husband accidentally spilled some red wine on the carpet on Monday and I tried my best to get the stain to come out but all I had was soap, water, and a generic carpet cleaner that didn't work good at all :( He gives me a report card on various wifely duties and if I get all A's I get 20 "good girl points" but if I get any F's on one of them I lose 10 :( Before today I had 30 good girl points but now I have 20. If I had of got all A's I would have had 50 points and my husband would have taken me and baby to the zoo this weekend. I had A's in every other category so I pleaded with him to give me a second chance. He said he will give me to Friday evening to remove the stain. I could sure use a breather and would love to see the animals and I'm sure baby would enjoy the fresh air and a long ride in the stroller :) Please help!! :) What is the best carpet cleaner for red wine? Thanks for all you help girls!!

Totally Toddler will take the stain out! However I must address the report card. IT's all fine and danny that you want to live with the report card rule. IT"s your life. However your baby is not reponisble for the spill the clean up and the report card. So you tell him that he can take the baby to the zoo while you stay home and clean the mess.

This type of stain is one of the hardest to get out the carpet even for a professional carpet cleaner, so you should not lose point for this one. Now for this stain I would recommend using a wet vac and slowly pour hot water (from a kettle) on the spot and vacuum it up at the same time, (this will open up the dye ports on the carpet fibre releasing the stain. and remove the residue from the carpet).
If the stain is still visible than try putting Dawn dishwashing liquid (4 or 5 drops into one cup of water) or carpet spotter. Dampen the spot letting it soak on the stain for about 5 minutes and repeat step one. After this you should rinse the area again with the wet vac and hot water.
Please be careful with what product you uses (neutral PH carpet cleaning solution is best). Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet.

Good luck and if you get the stain out you should get extra points.

Little Angel
You are not a maid but a wife, even maids don't have report cards.! I agree it sounds a lot like a control issue with your spouse, You are a woman with a mind SPEAK it tell him to clean the stain while you and baby are at the zoo!
Please stand up for yourself and tell him you are not his student but his wife and he better start treating you as such.
Good Luck and try peroxide on that stain take it right out. or a little bleach in a spray bottle mixed with water wont remove color of carpet if mixed and cleaned up right away. again good luck

I have no idea what the best carpet cleaner is. If he's so smart why doesn't he know? If he wants to give you these ridiculous grades he should be able to give you the materials to make the grade. I say you don't clean it and you and the baby go to the zoo by yourselves. While your there accidentally run into any good looking guys you see with kids and no wedding band. A guy that already goes to the zoo regularly wont make you earn your right to go.

Hello Angel,,,,,,, 1st thing i want to say is that you have a very strange husband. Try using Resolve. It is a red spray can. Cleans a lot of things out of carpets, upholstry, and rugs. And honey if i were you i would tell your husband that he got 40 bad boy pionts for spilling the wine on the carpet in the 1st place and tell him to suck it in and take you and the baby to the zoo! Take care.

I suggest that he cleans up the mess since he is complaining so much. I feel a little sad for you because you are being treated like a child or imbocile. You could even suggest to hire a crew of carpet cleaners...Come on, get the guts and tell him to clean it since he knows how it should be! Furthermore, ditch the damned grading system, you get all A's for being a woman, sister,mother,daughter,aunt.... Get some backbone(endearingly said)

I've been puzzeled by a number of your questions before but this one is a bit disturbing.
I fear that you are being treated like some school child. Were I to try "good girl" points my wife would laugh me out of the house. Your family trip to the zoo is with your child is based on getting points!?!? This concept is SO bizzare that I have no response.
How long can you continue being treated this way?

Tell Mr. Controlling Hubby Man to drink Clorox then pee on the wine stain he created. And after he completely destroys the carpet go get a divorce lawyer. What a loser.

are you kidding me!!! your husband gives you a report card on your wifely duties???? that is outrageous, how old are you??? my advice would be to forget about the stain and get rid of the husband, get some self esteem girl and drop him, you dont need that, in a relationship there is no grading system, how about you give him a report card on his husbandly duties, get in the car and take the baby to the zoo yourself grow some will ya

my EX husband used to pull that crap and then you know what... he became my EX!!! that's just wrong of him to do that to you, you're not a slave you're a mother and a wife. what a jerk, but you aslked for advice...i use resolve carpet cleaner and oxy-clean in spry bottle for. that should work. spray it with oxy clean first then resolve. let is soak for 10 minutes re-spray with resolve to moisten the carpet and scrub. repeat until stain is gone.

seriously...ditch the a**hole and don't believe this crap that he loves you, because you are not being loved by being scored! that's just rediculous. Is he in the military? my EX was and that's why he was that way. he had a very skewed way of thinking because they forced him to be clean so he forced me to be that way. he treated me like i was a "soldier" instead of his wife. DO NOT STAY TOGETHER FOR THE KID! Eventually this guy will mess up your kid emotionally and mentally and do you want your son/daughter to act this way or be treated this way? think about that. more so think about you and the baby first...not him!
