In Philadelphia, Pennsyvailnia.
This is where Washington and his troops winter after to unsucessfull battles. Before this, they had to flee from the British. The british surround Manhatten Island with ships and thousands of men. A fog came about, and this is when Washington escaped with his men. On a little boat they "borrowed" they took a few men back and foward to the island of New York. After the fog blew away the next morning, the British "chase" the Americans up and across the river down to Philadelphia. Valley Forge is between two forts the British own about 50 miles apart. This is one of the worst winters we face and the people in Philadeplhia didn't help Washington and his troops? Why? Because 1. They were loyalists 2. They didn't want to go against their king.
I hoped I answered your question with addtional notes. This is personal notes from what I had learned.
