With my daughter I loved Johnsons, now with her 2yo and a newborn son I have found another thing that I can't live with out....its called Butt Paste...seriously. Walmart carries it, and u an get a 1 pd tub on their website for around $17. It is a life saver!! It even works on burns, rashes, I wish I had known about this when my daughter was born, because most of the other things that I got her took forever to help. She was on meds that gave her a rash, and this cleared it up in 2 days. At least buy the small tube and give it a try....btw, grins and giggle lavender lotion puts mine right to sleep after a bath.

Balmex is a great cream for the diaper area. You can also use Desitin or even Vaseline.

Aquaphor is a great moisturizing cream for the rest of baby's skin. Our doctor recommended it as the most gentle, least allergenic product on the market.

It's best to avoid powder if you can. It's too easy to cause a skin inflammation or to get inside baby's lungs and cause a harmful reaction. Definitely don't use any powder that contains talc on a baby girl, as it can potentially lead to cervical and/or other types of cancer. If you feel you MUST use powder, cornstarch is a safe alternative, when used correctly.

It all depends if your newborn is allergic to perfumes or soaps., other than that, use whatever YOU like. We use Johnson's baby powder, and Huggies Shea Butter body cream... and that's only because I like the smell of it.

Johnson and Johnson Baby Powder with Cornstarch

Butt Paste (yes it's real)-great for barrier and a slight rash
Desitin for a real rash -it has 40 % zinc oxide which is what cures diaper rash.

The best cream that I have used on my boy's was Destin.....I have found it works great with rashes. I also used Johnson and Johnsons baby powder with cornstarch because the cornstarch is also great to treat and prevent rashes.

I've never used powder on my baby. Actually from what I've read, its not even recommended anymore. Penaten Ointment (not cream) is the only thing I've used, and so far my 7 month old has only had a diaper rash once. Her skin is absolutely perfect.

It really depends on the baby. Aveda baby products are very nice. My daughter had very sensitive skin as a newborn and they were the ones that were least irritating to her.
