When we do a mammogram on a symptomatic patient who can feel a lump, and the mammogram appears normal, we always ask for an ultrasound. Mammograms are not perfect, and an ultrasound will help insure that you do not have a condition which requires additional treatment. Additionally, most (NOT ALL) breast cancers are not painful, even when they are advanced and fairly large. Most times, an ultrasound will show that you have a benign cyst (these can be quite painful). But, as a patient, you deserve to know that your mass is adequately evaluated. Ask your referring physician to order an ultrasound for you.....

It could be a cyst or a swollen or inflamed gland. Don't worry too much and make your appointment with your doctor. Then you can get the actual report of what the analyst found. Good luck.

Check with your doctor right away - it could be a calcified mass, mastitis, an abcess, any number of things - don't stress out over it, get it diagnosed & treated as soon as you can. Good luck to you - great there's no sign of cancer!

This happens more often then not. Ask your Doctor that's what he's there for. It could be a milk gland, tissue mass, a benign cyst, etc. Good luck

It could be a benign cyst that is putting pressure on nerves causing it to hurt. If you are in pain you should talk to a doctor about what you can do about it. Because you may need to have it removed. Yikes.

Hopefully you have an appointment to see your doctor following the mammo. Someone should be going over it with you.
