whats the difference between the AMEX and NASDAQ

There a few things I can not remember them all. Companies have to have a certain amount of Market Capital to be on certain exchanges is one. Say a small capital company may not be able to list on AMEX but they can on NASDAQ. They just have different criteria for becoming a member.

they are just different exchanges. nyse, amex, nasdaq, phila, etc. amex is the "american exchange". nyse is the new york, or big board. most symbols in the nyse have 2 or 3 letters or 1.
exp. f is ford pg is proctor and gamble, etal. the nastaq has as a rule some lower price stocks and maybe a little more risky. its a big thing and you should get a book on it which will tell you everything. good luck..

They each have a different select group of stocks they use to figure the averages.
