He stumbled over his words, and he's apologized for it. But some people like beating a dead horse, because they think it makes them look smart. Or that attacking a Democrat for a slip of the tongue against soldiers will make people forget that Republicans have consistently voted against raising troop wages, have cut funding for veterans hospitals, and can't even make sure that the troops have adequate armor, not to mention continually extending soldier's tours of duty and keeping them in a dangerous war that is going nowhere.

Only those who do not live in the reality-based world. Kerry was stupid for saying anything like that, but if you listen to even just one sentence before the video/sound clip that is being replayed endlessly, it is clear that Kerry is talking about Bush. He was talking about Bush visiting DeLay’s district in Texas. He was not talking about Iraq, or out troops stationed there, or the war on terror, or anything along those lines. He was talking about and the current campaign.

Having said that, the truth is that the Democratic Party is a bunch of weenies. They are so bullied and intimidated by the conservative’s attack dogs that they will not stand up for themselves even when the Republican machine engages in the most obvious and simpleminded of political tricks. No Democrat who apologizes for Kerry or runs in fear in the opposite direction deserves to receive a vote for anything. Anyone who is afraid of Republicans does not deserve to run the country either.

On the other hand, if they had any sense they would tank this election anyway. If they get control of either house of Congress, the Republicans will inevitably find a way to blame them for the continuing failures of the Bush administration. Bush has already lost Afghanistan, Iraq, and is badly losing the war on terror. They next two years are just going to produce more failure, so Bush and the Republican party should get full credit for what is their responsibility.

This country is in seriously bad shape when something badly said is grasped at like a life preserver. Any port in a storm, right neocons? All these morons are the same idiots who believed the swiftboat ads. I weep for our nation when so many people swallow all this hogwash. Talk about drinking the KoolAid! Wake up. And find a real issue.......

I believe he jumped from the "first line" to the "punch line", while leaving out the most important part == the body of his statement. He forgot to say, "If you don't stay in school and get a good job when you graduate, and get rich from it, you, and your children and their children, will end up supplying the manpower for the war in Iraq, because that's how long it's going to take to bring this war to an end Bush's way."

I watched his statements closely - he got a little wound up in his speech to the kids - he meant to attack Bush, not the troops.

Guess what - I'm a Bush defending Republican, and I think Kerry got mistreated on this one.

Libs will say anything in an effort to cover the fact that John Kerry hates our military. Andy is a good example of that, John Kerry was not a soldier, John Kerry was in the navy and they do not have soldiers. We have some of the best educated, smartest, military personnel we have ever had. I served my country and i take offense to anyone denigrating our servicemen and women. John Kerry thought he would get some attention from the people who were ignoring him and he did. NEGATIVE!

To request "no Republican answers" sounds like you must be a Democrat looking for a hug. The man said what he said, and his RECORD backs up the idea that this is how he honestly feels.

If people really think that he was trying to bash Bush then they are idiot's as well. We all know that Kerry isn't clever. As a matter of fact he has the personality of a wet rag. How can he try to cover his tracks by claiming it was all a joke. He is a disgrace to this nation. He should move to France. He'll be welcomed with open arms.

I think Kerry made a stupid statement. He.s one of those guys who can't veer from the script without saying something stupid. I'm from his state and he's never had a sense of humor and this isn't the time to show he has one. People should realize he only spoke for himself, not the rest of the Democrats running.

I believe for probably the first time since the Vietnam era, John Kerry stated his true feelings about our military.
