I'm assuming your answer is no, and that our media is losing the war in Iraq for us???

It would've been a lot tougher. Imagine news crews covering the landing at Normandy beach. We would have still won, but at a substantially higher cost both overseas in troop lives and abroad with damage control to continue supporting the effort.
Many of our opponents have learned from the Vietnam War forward... the battles aren't necessarily won or lost on the battlefield. If you get the attention of the civilians back home through the news reports to reflect the campaigns negatively, you bleed away the support of the public for the troops. Some think it has a demoralizing effect on the troops, but in truth it galvanizes them and makes them even more-determined.
The truth of the whole situation is that war is war. People die and that's an ugly truth that will never be changed. The technology and the level of coverage that all of our conflicts are broadcast nowadays shove that in front of everyone's faces on a daily basis. Some accept it and some don't. That's our problem to deal with as civilians. But whatever the impact we can never let the support of our troops wane. That let's the enemies know they struck a nerve.

No becasuse the media would have thrown such a big stink about D-Day that we might still be fighting WW2.
