I personally agree with you but, it is seen as a form of free speech so it is protected by the Constitution. There is nothing we can do about it but, it is still disgusting to do that.

Someone should be killed for expressing their views about the US without actually causing any harm to the US? That's awfully extreme. Treason is when you cause actual harm to your country, or conspire to. Selling war secrets, attempting overthrow of the United States, spying on the US if you're a citizen- this is treason. Protesting the United States with the destruction of a symbol of the US is well within the bounds of the First Amendment.

In fact, if you really want to argue this, I would like to point out that, according to the flag code, wearing the flag as clothing or letting the flag trail on the ground, be rained on, or be stepped on is very disrespectful, also. In fact, I would consider that worse than flag burning. At least protest, revolution, and questioning institutions are important parts of our country, while carelessness and neglect at least shouldn't be.

If you think this is a treasonable offense, you must be a right wing crusader. The SC has ruled it a First Amendment right, because the flag is a symbol for AmericMF

Treason... that is ridiculous.

It is a piece of cloth... If I wanted to tear it up and do my dishes with it, would that be treason? Get a grip.

Some ppl burn the flag to express dissatisfaction in the direction of their country. Like I said, it is a piece of cloth.

You must be a Republican... only Republicans think they have the right to force what they believe about an issue the beliefs of others. You want to force ppl to respect a piece of cloth because you do... why can't you ppl live and let live.

US Flag Code. TITLE 4 > CHAPTER 1 > Sec. 8(k). It states:

"The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning"

burning a flag is far more harmless than an actual act of treason...

Amen to that too.

Since it is illegal to kill a bald eagle it should be illegeal to burn the flag.

some people don't have the slightest clue about the sacrifices that were made so we could have our freedom and fly that flag.

but i don't believe the aclu (agitated-crybabies-losers-union) will sit back and watch without a fight.

if they will fight for the "rights" of a convicted child molester/murderer they will fight for keeping the "burning" legal
