This is a common problem with IE7, and so are missing toolbars, pages not connecting, weird text sizes... MS put out a very rough and flawed product.
You may find that you'll have to revert back to IE6... but first make sure your bookmarks are safe (and who knows, you might like it enough to keep).
What am I talking about? Firefox... It's a popular alternative to Internet Explorer that will copy over your bookmarks, and then allow you to save them to a file (exporting, technically)
Download Firefox - http://getfirefox.com
Install Firefox and let it copy over your bookmarks from IE.
(Try Firefox for a week, the bookmarks aren't going anywhere)
Open up Firefox, click on "Bookmarks", then "Organize Bookmarks".
Click on "File" then "Export..." Click ok.
There is now a file on your desktop with all your bookmarks from IE.
Do what you need to do to IE7 (tips abound here), and then load up IE6, drag the bookmarks file from your desktop into IE.
From here... this is where IE shows it's limits. You will personally have to make each folder again, and bookmark each link in the file.
I wish IE had an "Import Bookmarks" option, but it doesn't.

Here are some reasons to consider using and keeping Firefox...
Free, fast, a small 5mb download, Firefox blocks pop-ups and sites from secretly installing programs on your computer. It will copy over your settings from other browsers (cookies, settings, bookmarks). Firefox is powerful too, it's more up-to-date than even IE7 according to the web standards (w3.org).
The main reason I like Firefox is because it's customizable.
Why is customizability important?
Imagine being able to do 2 small things and never seeing a banner ad, flash ad or an iframe ad again? (Remember, pop-ups are already gone)
Imagine being able to pause your computer's music player when the phone rings without having to switch to it?
Firefox puts the power back in your hands!

Dont use IE7
dont contribute the monopoly and the bad quality.
Download Firefox 2. Faster Browsing, more security, simply better.
