I know exactly how you feel. One of my friends went through the same thing. People were assuming she was a lesbian just because she cut her hair short and didn't wear preppy clothes. When people come up to you and ask, instead of getting embarassed, make them feel stupid by making a confused face and saying "No, why would you think that?" You also shouldn't care much what people thin. If you KNOW that you are not a lesbian, that's all that matters, YOu and your friend should just stay true to yourselves and stick to each other no matter what anyone says.

If you know she's straight, and you know you're straight, and she knows you're straight...it shouldn't be an issue. I mean, I know it bothers you when people read you wrong, because it sucks to think people don't understand you and they're judging you on something that isn't true.

My guess is, they're just jealous or want to make fun of somebody. Just shake it off--not much else you can do. Just make absolutely sure that you both know each other's feelings and intentions. Sex is a slippery little subject and sometimes things happen that you wouldn't expect. So be honest--with others, with your friend, with yourself, and that's the best thing to do.

I used to play rugby and I was rough, tough, and totally buff...but I was still straight. No gay women ever hit on me. I never hit on them. I mean, I *hit* them. I hit them plenty. I didn't hit *on* them. Just relax--you're helping to loosen the stereotypes of "straight" and "gay"--it's not fun to be a trailblazer, but it's important, and you shouldn't stress about other people's perceptions.

oh dont worry, some day you will be honey. Everyone teased me when I was a kid to about being a lesbian, I to got all defensive. It hurt my feelings to. I realize now that the reason it bothered me so much is that I knew deep down that I was gay, and it scared me to think others saw it to. So dont worry.

Oh and ps,,,

If you really are 100% straight, you wouldnt be on the lgbt forum posting this question. People who are comfortable with there sexuality dont get defensive.

If people you consider friends or family don't believe you and keep pressuring you about it, then I would seriously reconsider who your friends are. Also, sounds like you have some homo-phobia going on. It's just like any other rumor - why do you care so much if other's think you are gay for a little while? Just laugh and ignore people's comments.

well what do you do with your friend in public? i've seen some of the girls kissing(on the cheek) and hugging and no one thinks they're a lesbian.
you should invite some other friends over to hang out with. if only you two are seen every single day then anyone would start thinking that. people would be like "have you seen either of them hang out with anyone?", "i see them together everyday, are they lesbians?"

Don't let them get to you.

If you aren't homosexual, then you aren't homosexual. You don't have to explain yourself to anyone.

Don't go out and get a boyfriend just to show everyone that you aren't a lesbian. While you may think it's HUGE to you, next week this isn't going to be worth talking about at school.

Could it be a poor choice of fashions? Hair style? Have your friend really look at you (and vice versa). See if there is something you could change, get the ignorant off you backs,

Ignore their ignorant remarks. Or you can turn the tables around on them. If it makes you gay to hang around the same sex person then the world is homosexual.

My cousin and her best friend are just like that, people used to think the same thing. But they don't really care what people think, you shouldn't either.

Who cares....do you really care what people think??? If it bothers you that much, then get a guy to hang out with you two? Or, maybe just not spend sooo much time together.
