Money is the main reason. Money pays for the things I like to do or buy. If I had that money, I would be less likely to work.

Unless you're independently wealthy, you have to work for money - that's not sad, it's reality. If that is the only thing that motivates you to work, it is unfortunate. People should have an opportunity to do something that they enjoy doing, that fits their skills, abilities and interests, that gives them a sense of contributing to society, that allows them to meet new and interesting people, etc. Getting all of those things in a job is rare, but I think we should strive for that. I've met so many people who hate their jobs and only go to work for the paycheck. Not only are they doing themselves a disservice, but they also make life miserable for everyone around them by making the work environment negative, angry and bitter. Bitter employees tend to lash out at others, making them miserable too, or driving away employees who could have had their dream job there.

Money is the main reason people work. The way to keep it from being"sad" is to work at something that you like to do. For ex-sample, I build proto-types for my company. The work is interesting(ie: not boring). I do math, weld(M.I.G.) form metal, spot weld and set up and Press-Break machines.
On most days I work at different tasks to build the project I am working on.

well working because someone is bored and can't find a hobby or something he/she likes to do is worse. A lot of retired people go back to work because they're bored. Supply me with money and I'll be a happy camper not working, there's so much you can do in life for fun!

I worked for money for many years, and then retired. My total monthly income isn't too bad. I went back to work as a part timer, for the socialization.
