Did somebody spray paint your instrument for Halloween?

I hate to think what that might do to the sound of the instrument... maybe that's why i've never seen one before either. I've played the french horn for 10years and i've been to many horn festivals where they often sell the instruments. Not once have i seen it done, but i don't think i would want a black horn, or any other colour for that matter. I quite fancied a silver one for a while...

Actually, just a thought... Trumpets, trombones and saxophones are used in jazz bands where this look can be quite cool. However, french horns aren't used in jazz very often (french horn jazz doesn't work in my opinion). They are mostly used in orchestras where a black instrument may look tacky and out of place.

Hope that answers your question for you.

Well, if it helps, I played yesterday with a black trombonist (a white dude playing a black trombone).. I've never seen a dark french horn, because i think they typically have a little more pride in their instrument but... anything goes.
