Well, the main point of being alive is to pass down your genes. That means having sex, and doing everything else needed, such as marrying, getting a good education, getting a job, providing food/shelter/water/other basic necessities and more, raising your child(ren) healthily (as well as staying healthy yourself), and many more things that may come along the your life's path.
But the "meaning" of life is different for everyone. One person, like Nick Naylor from the movie "Thank You for Smoking", may feel the need to stand up for those who are hated by the masses and may become a lobbyist for Big Tobacco. Someone else, like Bono of U2 or the Gates' of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, may be extremely passionate to help the poor, sick, and downtrodden, and may do lots of charity work throughout their life. Another person, like Al Gore, wants to devote their time to environmental causes and may do things like filming a documentary (like Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth"), or make Environment a big topic on his run for presidency, or create an investment firm (such as Gore's Generation Investment Management) that invests in companies who take responsible views on global issues like climate change.
But the point of living and your meaning in life are interconnected. Think of what would've happened if Bill Gates did not get a good education and dropped out of high school. He may have had to work at McDonalds all his life, and he would be struggling to keep his job, find a better job, support his family, and carry out the Purpose of living. He would not have had time to persue his Meaning of Life: Philanthropy.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

Personally, I'm still trying to figure out that question for myself...
But I've noticed a few facts about life, such as: we cruise along till a problem pops up and then we fix it. We as humans are here with our own take on things, such as beliefs and we live our life by and for these beliefs. That is called a person's purpose. I believe that everyone is here for a reason, and nothing is coincidental. So if you're lacking direction or focus, take a step back to enjoy the simple things in life, what you can be grateful for, and your hobbies. Follow your desires and and don't give up on your dreams. Once you discover something that really lights you up, and all you can do is think about it and talk about it, that is when you know, that thing is your mission in life.

There is no meaning of "life" in the generic sense. It is merely a complicated biochemical and evolutionary process playing itself out. I know a lot of people don't like to hear stuff like this, but it is what reason and evidence point to being the most likely.
That is not to say that individual lives have no meaning though. But that meaning has to be something determined or created by each individual. We all have free will, regardless of whether you believe that free will came from natural selection pressures or from some god. Either way, that free will enables us to live our lives as we each see fit, to create our own meaning and purpose.
So go live a full and meaningful life, rich in experiences and wisdom. Make your own meaning and purpose, and don't worry about the purpose of others.

Yes I think that life for repeat offenders is good.I mean cause most of these murders could have been prevented if the killers would have stayed in jail. I can relate to the victims families. My friend was killed in 1997 and they have no leads. An I know sometimes the jury lets them off but come on if the guy or girl killed more than once you know hes going to do it again.

Life is the characteristic state of organisms and individual cells. Properties common to the known organisms found on Earth (plants, animals, fungi, protists, archaea and bacteria) are that they are carbon-and-water-based, are cellular with complex organization, undergo metabolism, possess a capacity to grow, respond to stimuli, reproduce and, through natural selection, adapt in succeeding generations.
An entity with the above properties is considered to be organic life. However, not every definition of life considers all of these properties to be essential. For example, the capacity for descent with modification is often taken as the only essential property of life. This definition notably includes viruses, which do not qualify under narrower definitions as they are acellular and do not metabolise. Broader definitions of life may also include theoretical non-carbon-based life and other alternative biology.
The entire Earth contains about 75 billion tons of biomass (life), which lives within various environments within the biosphere.
“Only a life lived for others is worth living”
“I think my greatest ambition in life is to pass on to others what I know.”
"The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot."
"The meaning of life is not a question to be answered, but an event to be experienced."
“It's the simple things in life that are the most extraordinary; only wise men are able to understand them.”
“The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.”

The meaning of life is to be good to yourself, and to those around you. Live a good and rewarding life that is helpful to those around you. Do charity. Volunteer. Make donations. Don't lie and live strong and successful in your words. Live healthy and make your dreams come true.

what do you mean by meaning first of all? the meaning is intertwined into a greater meaning of the Universe, which seeks to attain more and more definition, while at times being embodied in TAO (the chinese word for the undefined). This greater meaning, is quite complex and abstract, but mainly, life is a product of getting closer and closer to TAO, yet reaching a more complex definition in the process, which ironically, gets farther away from TAO. Life's meaning is to perfect this quest toward by trying rto each TAO but increasing the definition of a perfect equation (and thus getting away from TAO) based on the rules of reality in our physical system (constructs)
This means exploring the ever-wider host of experiences as a human being, as it benefits you and the whole (on more than one occassion, nature has set the arrows of beneficial return in the same direction...your good to others, others are good to you, you are bad, it comes back)...
I could go and give examples, but to do so would be getting farther away from TAO, as I would try to define it based on my definition...but TAO is inherently undefined, and therefore, you must find it yourself...only not to find TAO, and get more defined based on your 'being.'
If you seek what is the meaning of intelligent life...there is no meaning but what brings you fullfillment and happiness...this is hand in hand with giving to others, being part of a whole, and realizing you are just another part of the equation that reflects the echo, so that 'the dialogue' for perfecting the equation can continue. This is what you owe your existance to. But seek moderation, balance, giving to others and you shall receive back...and try to let go of your inner-self...and embody the self of the whole, which will make you less dependent and less worrisome of the individual irrelevent things that happen to you.
explore with activities, physical and mind bending, the limits...and you shall find, the construct by which you are defined...the more information you attain, the more you can ahvei n dialogue with others who have reached other conclusions....
and through this dialogue...eventually you can find the purpose and perfect way of living for the human being, which is constrained by mortality...and therefore, logic is given meaning only relative to the relevence of where the human mind is chained...the body and your social construct. Your neural hardwiring for the preservation of the specie...and so on..
When you reach this enlightment...you can then evolve and perfect the equation...
this is the purpose of interactive intelligent life....to acheive this nirvana.
That is one way to put it..
individually, beign a good person, and finding philosophies as well as exploration of your constructs...are all meanings as well as echoes of meanings of life.
