Well, a police officer should have had more sense than that. But the police are not social workers or psychologists. We can say that they should get some training in social work and psychology, but basically, they are just guys or gals that got a job, and their skills vary considerably. You can't really expect much from them when it comes to dealing sensitively with children.

Additionally, he was wrong to not wonder how it happens that a seven year old child showed up at his station unaccompanied after school. That should definitely be a cause to wonder about his competence.

No he was not right. We pay police officers to serve and protect. That also means to serve our children. He should have took the time to talk to the child so he could be a positive influence on her. Later on when she really needs a police officer for help she will hesitate because of this experience. My advise is contact your local law enforcement agency about any programs for children in your area where she can have a more positive interaction with a police representative that actually knows how to do their job. This is something that needs done for your child's future piece of mind and safety. The bad part is our taxes pay officers like him to treat our children this way. In my opinion he needs reprimanded by his superiors.

How did a seven year old get to the police station from school? I hope someone accompanied her... and if they did i dont see how things could have gone so wrong for her? I guess I dont really understand the question...

its a shame she is afraid of policemen now... just like regular people some some of them are just nasty and rude.

Depending on what she said, because she was 7, he probably thoought she was playing with him. Have an adult go back to the police station (find out when this officer is on duty and arrange a meeting with him) with her. If she sees him in a more "gentle mode", her fear will go away.

No he wasn't right to do this to her. You might want to call the police station and file a report on this person.
