You have to use the distributive property. 5*x and 5*3= 5X + 15. Then, you have 4*X and 4*-4, which =4x -16..now coombine like terms;
5x-4x=-16-15..you are left with X= -31

you have to distribute the multiplication, and then add like numbers.
5(x) +5(3)=4(x)-4(4)
5x +15=4x-16
5x-4x=-16-15

i think you can get it from there :)
