in a bad situation. How could John Kerry's words have been interpreted as anything other than exactly what he said...Paraphrasing here..."get smart or stay stupid" "Learn or repeat the bad mistakes"
Not once in any of the replays of his comments did I hear him say "American soldiers are too stupid to do anything other than fight and die in Iraq".
So it may not have been stated most eloquently but I believe John Kerry has every right to say it and to not be forced to apologize by people who never have served for a single second.
I'm sorry people felt it was a blatant and outright insult - perhaps you heard it was insulting but you didn't actually hear him say it? Or perhaps you are just too on edge because you have a loved one in danger in Iraq due to the ignorance of the bush White House. I just didn't hear an insult to the serving soldiers.
