I find the best way to forget bad memories is look ahead. What's happened has gone by and can never change. I picture my life as a book. You do one page at a time, accept each page as it happens, no matter how bad or good it it is, then go on the next page. My life has not been good as far as luck or circumstance goes. I lost an eye to cancer when I was 17, lost my best friend to the Vietnam war when I was 19, I've lost both parents,
2 brothers and a sister, and a daughter-in law who was only 21. I've been married twice and divorced twice, so on and so on. Start each day of your life's book with a smile on your face and appreciate the good things that have happened look ahead to the next day.

i don't think you ever really forget. eventually bad memories dull with time and they don't seem as important anymore. with that time, other memories are made to take their place.
