Equation of a line is y=mx+b m=slope b=y intercept.
Plug the first set into this equation:
3 = 2(4) + b
b= -5
Next plug in 7 for y and solve for x
7= 2x - 5
2x = 12
x = 6

Slope = Y/X movement on the graph right? Rise over the run they say in math class. So a slope of 2 is 2/1 which would be move up 2, move right 1. Start with (4,3) then start moving up the slope until you get to where Y=7.
(4,3) moves up the slope to (5,5) then up one more to (6,7). Voila you found your answer, X=6;

(4,3) known points
if slope is 2 or 2/1
then (3+2) / (4+1)
then (5+2)/ (5+1)
so (7/6) since slope is=y/x
then it's x=6
(6,7)

The slope of a straight line passing through to given points is given by (y2-y1)/ x2-x1). In your case y2 =7, y1 = 3, x2 = x and x1 = 4
So just plug in the values to get (7-3)/(x-4) = 2
4/(x-4)=2
4 = 2x -8
2x =12
x = 6

m=(y1 - y2)/(x1 - x2)
given:
m = 2
x1 = 4
x2 = x
y1 = 3
y2 = 7
sol'n:
2 = (3 - 7)/(4 - x)
(2)(4 - x) = (3 - 7)
8 - 2x = -4
-2x = -4 - 8
-2x = -12
x = 6

lets see.....
(7 - 3)/(x - 4) = 2
4/(x-4)=2
4/2 = (x-4)
2 = (x-4)
6 = x
