-3 x +2 = -7x - 22
-3x = -7x - 22 - 2
-3x + 7x = -22-2
4x = -24
x = -24/4
x = -6

-3x +2 = -7x - 22
-3x +7x = -22 -2
4x = -24
x = - 6
The object is to get all the terms containing x on the left side of the equals sign and everything else on the right side of the equal sign.
You can move the -7x from the right side to theleft side as long as you cange the sign from -7x to +7x. Similarly, you can move the +2 from the left side of the equals sign to the right side of the equals sign as long as you change the +2 to a -2. Moving terms from one side of the equals sign to the other is called transposition and is a very often used tool in solving equations.

this is one math problem that I think I can do..
first you need to get the -3x on the right side, (actually you need to get the like terms on one side, so it really dont matter which one) so you +3x-7x which will be 2= -4x-22 then you +22 on the left side. which will give you 44= -4x
then divide by -4 on both sides to get x by itself. answer should be x=11
I hope I done this right.

-3X +2 = -7X -22
4x +2 = -22 (subtract -7x from both sides)
4x = -24 (subtract 2 from both sides)
x=-6 (divide 4 from each side)
You must do to one side as you do the other side.
To get rid of a number do the opposite, if it is added, subtract,
if it is multiplied, divide.
