if your an Internet Explorer user just:

"Turn on Content Advisor

In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
Click the Content tab, and then, under Content Advisor, click Enable.
If you've never turned on Content Advisor before, continue to the next step. If you've previously turned on Content Advisor, type your supervisor password and click OK until you return to Internet Explorer. Content Advisor is now turned on and you should not continue to the next step.

Click a category in the list, and then move the slider to set the limits you want to use.
Repeat this process for each category you want to limit, and then click OK.
Type a supervisor password, confirm it, and type a hint that will remind you what the password is. Click OK.
Note

To prevent others from visiting objectionable websites that don’t use ratings labels, click the Approved Sites tab, and change the settings as appropriate. "

Yes you can! If you supervise your children while they are using the internet they will not view objectionable material. It's really a pet peeve of mine that parents want parental controls so that they don't have to know what their children are doing. Children have been looking at dirty pictures for hundreds of years, but only if their parents had them around. Be a parent and be informed. The rest of the world isn't going to protect your children, only you can.

Keeping an eye on them is about the only way. All the electronic firewalls and blocks and parental controls in the world are useless with a kid that's even half intelligent!

Smash the computer with a sledgehammer. Most kids are more computer literate than their parents and could figure out how to circumvent any protections they try to implement.

You can't unless you completely monitor their computer usage. Keep the computer in the family room where you can watch them.
