The wax leaked out and puddle collected on the floor. It's a finished (many years ago) oak floor. The wax has been there over six months.

It would be great to have some different methods suggested and I open to give 'em a try.

Thank you for your help.

Put ice in a plastic baggie, lay directly on wax, let sit about 10 mins....use a rubber spatula to flick off floor.

HI LIVIN INXS:
This is the best way to remove candle wax from your floor.
Get a piece of paper towel and roll it until it looks like a fat straw. Put the rolled up paper towel in a circle around the candle wax.
Get some ice for the freezer and place it directly on the wax.
As the wax hardens it becomes brittle and easily brakes apart for removal. Do not use anything sharp to remove the wax or you will mar the floor.
I hope this helps

I use a couple of methods to remove wax from an antique table. Heat the wax w/ a blow dryer and blot it up or, going the other way but can be messy, harden the wax w/ ice and pull it off.

I'm not sure if this would work on wood, but I have seen my fiance use this method to remove candle wax from the carpet very successfully. Take a clean dry paper towel and place it on the wax, then lightly press a warm clothes iron on the paper towel. This will melt the wax and the paper towel will soak it up, you have to change the paper towel frequently though.

I'd carefully get the bulk of the wax up. If there is residue, I'd take a brown paper bag and place the bag on the wax and use a low setting iron to get the majority of the oils up. You may have to refinish the boards that had the wax on it if it ate away the finish (depends on the type of finish and sealer really).

If the puddle of wax is fairly thick then use ice and chip some away then remove the remainder with a simple pair of panty hose, you can just use the panty hose however if the wax is fairly thick it will require a lot of elbow grease.

You could try to put ice on the puddle and as it hardens peel the wax away. You could take a one edge razor blade and take it off layer by layer and then very carefully with the razor scrap it off underneath the rest of the wax.

Harden it with ice cubes, then start chipping away at it carefully.
