Accept the award. The job you do is the most dangerous of the emergency services. The woman in question had the chance to live another day thanks to you. When accepting you can give a small speech of how you are accepting the award for you and the other Firefighters that you work with.

Your are a firefighter a service provider to the people that is your job however every single day you risk your life to save and help others. You do this in spite of your family, friends and everyone that loves and cares for you.
You and all of your firefighting peers give unconditionally beyond what most people would or could do.
To you it may be a job to those of us for who you serve and save our lives, our loved ones and our pets you ARE BRAVE, BEYOND BRAVE........A HERO AND WE MUST BE ABLE TO GIVE BACK TOO!
You may feel very humble and shy about such an award in your opinion your doing your job, in our opinion you risked your life to save others life and we need to be able to give back in some way. An honor of your valor and bravery, your commitment to who you are A FIREFIGHTER and UNCONDITIONAL MAN saving someone you don't know of or about just saving another person!
Go accept your award no matter how you may minimize it you did get this woman out of a burning building, let her and the people applaud you!
God Bless and may God's Luck Follow You Through Life!

Yes you should accept it, you deserve it because u saved someone else's life. An award is given not only to recognize, but also to encourage and inspire others to give the same kind of commitment and passion you give in your job. Hence, you are awarded bec u did a good job and bec you are a role model to others.

CONGRATS! Yep, being a fire fighter is your 'job' but it was your decision to pull that woman from a building, and your action that possibly saved her life, and just as you probably have saved other lives before. Be very proud of yourself, you deserve your award you do a fantastic job, you are brave for just doing the job in the first place, but extra brave for saving people!! Enjoy the moment.

You could accept the award on behalf of all firefighters. Sometimes the public take firefighters for granted, take the award be proud of what you do.

Yes, but accept it on behalf of your whole team.

It is the community's way of saying thank you to firefighters and you should accept gracefully. Or would you prefer to feel unrewarded among an ungrateful community?

At the very least it's a day out among nice people and something that will make your kids even prouder. And if you don't have kids, keep the award till you do.

I was a prison officer and I can tell you, nobody EVER said thanks to us for anything.

Accept it, not doing so may upset the person who put your name forward. We all get paid for doing our jobs, but some of us do them better or worse than others, for the same amount of pay. So look on this award, as a bonus for doing your job, and for doing your job to an exceptional standard. My father was a fire brigade officer, so I know exactly how much you all put into your work. Congratulations and good luck!

You should also remember how you felt doing something so courageous. Bravery Awards are given to recognise people who have been in suituations above and beyond what is expected of them. Accept with pride and show others what selflessness can achieve.

Congratulations!

You earned that award, so just accept it naturally.

An award to me is an endorsement of service. I had won 6 awards in my life even though, like you, I'm only doing my job and duty. I accepted them happily and proud of myself

You've saved someones life. Accept the award anyway and give a little speech. To not accept it could offend.
