She was the first 'suffragette' - a demeaning term that didn't stop her from succeeding in her goal to get women the right to vote, which took until 1920.

She was also a vocal atheist who recognized the role of religion in keeping women 'in their place' as subservient to men (see, it's right there in the Bible). That's why her statue remains in the White House basement and will not be put on display until society evolves to catch up with her.
