In Utah, 19 to smoke, 21 to drink, & the only public place to drink & smoke is the bars & clubs, in 2007 smoking will be banned from all those places-(when I drink, I gotta smoke! so it's not good.)

Here in Australia you can buy alcohol and cigarettes at the age of 18. Smoking was banned in restaurants years ago and no person is allowed to smoke in ANY workplace. In bars and clubs smoking has been restricted as well. We are allowed to smoke in 1 area of the club/bar only and we arent allowed to smoke when going to the bar serving area.
In 2 years they plan to bar smoking in clubs all together. Also if you get caught dropping a cigarette on the sidewalk (it doesnt matter whether the ciggie is lit or not) u get a fine of $200 for littering,
Im just glad i gave up smoking when i did. I quit when i found out i was pregnant with my first child (im now 8 months pregnant) and i couldnt afford the habit now. 1 packet of cigarettes standard here in aussie for a pack of 50 (yes we get packs of 50 lol) costs about $20.00.
My health is much better and my pocket is better off too :P

In Australia the legal age to purchase and consume them is 18.
Smoking is banned in most hotels, clubs, restaurants & government owned buildings & work places & smoking is banned for teachers & parents on many school grounds. The passive smoking effect and subsequent law suits are causing major worries for corporations and business. Selling or purchasing ciggies for anyone under 18 is an offence.
It's also an offence in many place to drink alcohol in the street & at sporting events the serve alcohol there is a limit to how many can be purchased at one time.
We are also told time and time again not to drink & drive & to take public transport but you can't take opened or unopened alcohol on the trains which is just ridiculous.
We have a lot of laws dont we ......
