I need an original feeling that halloween gives you other than the steriotypical "spooky, creepy, fun, festive" ideas that you mostly get. This is for a major essay, so I really appreciate your help!

I get the impression that some people get their undergarments in a wad about it, and yet most people can't resist the fun. Like a forbidden fruit.

Halloween is for embracing our fears, and looking directly at them, and even walking around in their shoes, so that they lose the power to frighten us. It's 'enlightenment' - taking the darkness and bringing it to light.

It's a celebration of victory over fear and death, of hope of an afterlife.
