I just took a test and it came out positive so I bought another and am going to repeat the test (different test this time)
My question is how often is it that a person could get a false positive?

When it comes to pregnancy tests there is no such thing as a false positive only false negatives.

I was in your boat about 2 months ago. I too took a test and it was positive. SHOCKER!!! I was not supposed to be able to have anymore kids. So I had serious doubt. I spoke with a pharmacist at 3 drug stores in my town. With a combined 56 years of experience, they all agreed that they had NEVER heard of a false positive. So I went to my doctor, and he said the exact same thing. He said the only case where he had seen what someone thought was a "false positive" was a woman who had chemical pregnancy, and miscarried. Took a test a week later, for reasons unknown, and it was positive again. She thought she was pregnant. But it turned out the hormones were still in her body from the previous miscarriage. So if you have a positive result then CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Hope this is a happy event for you and yours. Good Luck! (((HUGS)))

In my opinion it is very rare when you get a positive and it is a false the best thing to go by is your missed period and if you cant use that.. go to the er and let them know you are having stomach pains and they will give you an pregnancy test!!!!!!!!! good luck

Rare..Its more common to get a false negative..Meaning that the test comes back negative but you are indeed pregnant..

if i was you id wait to take the second test later on but yoru going to get the same results because if you take the test right after you take the first one theres a huge chance that your hormones havent built up in the second one enough to make it postive goodluck and congratulations to YOU!!!!!!!
