okay so i was just watching the news, and i didnt hear the name, but they found something that will prolong a rats life (for testing of course they used a rat[s]) But anways they said it worked. They're trying to figure out if it works on humans too. If anyone knows what im talking about, please tell me the name?
Also, i find this a bad idea. Come one! You're messing with "mother nature". When your time is up your time is up. What do you guys think?

I'm not sure if its the same, but there was a study a while ago that more than doubled rats lives. It involved feeding half of the normal daily requirements every other day. So one day they would get nothing, the next day they would get half the usual amount(a quarter over both days). I think the rats lived to at least 8 years old compared to 2-3. The rats were a lot less active than normal, they slept a lot more and hardly moved when awake, sort of like a semi-hibernation.
I'm not sure what to think of this. I have pet rats and know how food orientated they are. On one hand I would love my babies to live for a lot longer, but on the other I want them to have a happy life, even if it is short.

I wonder why one would want to prolong life anyway. When you are old and falling apart, it is just time to go. I find artificially prolonging life a bad idea also. I think the best way to have a long life is to just be healthy. Everyone knows how to eat healthy and life healthy, just no one has "time" or the will power. If you live a good life filled with actual accomplishments, you won't want to prolong your life, because you will feel a sense of fulfilment. And nothing can replace that.

yeah i agree with you, overpopulation and caring for the elderly since the life expectancy is rising well over traditional retirement age is going to start becoming a huge problem in the next 100 years, we dont need more of this stuff

and honestly i doubt this mysterious substance works, your body pretty much has a set expiration date in many ways, i dont think any one thing could significantly prolong a life by years and years

Nothing can prolong your life when the Good Lord gets ready for you. If it's not your time no one can take you and if it is your time no one can save you.

It was an ingrediant found in red wine they THINK.

They're not 100% sure yet more tests and studies are needed.
