Okay so what I'm looking at doing is finding a rolling chasis of a 510 and pulling a motor and trans out of a corvette and stabing into the 510. Now has anyone ever done this before? What I mean is, has anyone ever put a small block chevy into a datsun 510? I would love to find out if somebody has already done this and they can provide some info. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Well, you can fit just about anythying anywhere, but I'd say look at the overall size, do a little measuring here and there. A little jerry-rigging can go a long way. As for the tranny, that would be a little more complicated. Look for a nissan manual, or an old datsun manual and get the stats and measurements of it. If it's close to the one you're using, well, like I said, a lot of jerry-rigging can go a long way. If you actually want this thing to last, don't do it, find a NISSAN engine and put it in the 510.

You bet. A friend of mine did that.

The car didn't last too long 'cause he didn't reinforce the frame.

It is a lot of work. Lots of fabrication, welding, cutting, etc etc.

Sorry I can't be more help than that. Just know you can do it.

Why not make it a mid engine and put the new motor in the backseat?
