There seem to be an awful lot of answers in this category saying what a load of rubbish it is and we are all idiots to believe it. Why do these people look under 'horoscopes' category in the first place? I bet they read their stars everyday just to say what rubbish it is

I agree totally they are here to be cynical without license and to mock and to gain points, some people who ask questions in this category are in need of guidance of any kind and ask whatever is troubling them, it's like praying when times are hard, people should be a little kinder on here I think.

Yes, horoscopes makes people think of the daily newspaper horoscopes. It is also in the Entertainment & Music category - it should be in the Religion & Spirituality category. I also believe that being in the wrong category attracts the wrong attention and serious astrologers are a little put off by all the "Do Libra and Aries make a good match?" type questions. I agree that there should be a main category for Astrology and subcategories of Vedic, Western, Chinese, Palmistry, etc.

I do not search by catergory - I just answer whatever comes up. I try to avoid going out of my way to mock the beliefs of others, but sometimes the stupidity of a question is just too good an opportunity to pass up. My biggest vice is uncontrollable sarcasm - particularly at the expense of stupid people who rather set themselves up for it in the first place.

Since the recent discoveries relating to the exact number of planets and moons in our solar system have pretty much eradicated the last vestiges of a possibility that horoscope could have a bearing on human life on Earth, this topic does rather draaw attention to itself.

I do not read my horoscope on a daily basis in order to mock it - mainly because they are printed in newspapers which are about as reliable as the horoscopes and I do not wish to pay to be lied to.

Well, you did ask!

I can tell you the reason why is that they are very curious and most are probably religious ie Christian, Catholics, etc. Most of the religious who talk negative about horoscopes and yet they respond to horoscopes. Personally, I believe in horoscope up to a certain point. That point is that I don't let it dictate my life because you can create your own destiny without reading a horoscope. Aloha

I have often thought the same exact thing.
Its just like those people who try to convince everyone else to believe in a certain religion, law, etc....
They waste their breath.
It is fine for anyone to believe in horoscopes--in fact it's more than fine. There should be no reason for those types of people to be putting everyone who does believe down...in fact its just rude.

Many people on yahoo answers dont even come here for serious reasons. So those are mainly the people who answer the questions with rude remarks--remarks that just make them look bad in the first place.

I just try to ignore them...give them a thumbs down and move on...hopefully theyll get the hint that no one wants their rude comments...because if we did we'd ask for them

Thanks for knowing more about how we think and act than we do - very perceptive of you. As has already been said i dont trawl answers looking for individual subjects to have a go at, i look through the list and answer the questions that i find, did no-one tell you thats the way that answers works?

Now as much as you would like to think that your opinion is SO much more valid than anyone elses and the whole world centres around you and what you think i have some very bad news for you. Just because you believe in something and are gulible enough to believe that 12 starsigns hold the key to our destiny, other people might not and see fit to pour scorn on the idea.

For what its worth i dont personally think you're an idiot for believing, no, i think you must be sadly lacking in something if you hold any credence to a notion as ridiculous as horoscopes, but there you go, thats just my opinion - pity that you dont think anyone should have one but there you go.

Horoscopes are so vaguely worded that anyone can relate to them if they really try hard. Lets travel back in time to April when i was very ill and not too happy, if i had opened a copy of the daily star/mirror or the sun (the best horoscopes are in the really classy newspapers) and it had said Aries: You are not at your best at the moment - but fear not your illness will be treatable and in late October you'll be having the time of your life in Kenya where you will take 2,815 pictures of various wildlife on a 2 week safari on the Mara and Samburu, but be carefull becuase on the 3rd day you'll bang your head getting out of the Land Rover. Now if it had said that i'd start taking it serious but it was probably more like, take more time to concentrate on you, you've not been happy lately but time heals all - or some such vague crap.

Now i'm sure you would have believed the latter and convinced yourself that it was right somehow - you do come across as having the intellect of a nail - minus the sharp end of course but quite a lot of people dont buy into this garbage. But you just keep on believing, it told you that you were coming into money once and 6 months later you won £2 on a scratchcard - how do they do it?

Diana i think you'll find that the cynics and mockers that you refer to are the more intelligent out there who dont buy into the idea that the position of the planets on the day we were born somehow influences our lives. You'd have to very VERY gulible or just plain thick to believe that. I believe in lots of things that you probably dont but i dont get all heated just because people dont agree with me.

The person who started this by asking the initial question is a typical example of the im right so listen to me brigade - and you call me condescending?

You believe whatever makes your sad little life more bearable.

unfortunately, some people are just bitter and insecure. The only way they can make themselves feel better is to put others down.
It is much easier to be rude to someone via email or phone, as you are not looking at them. Some people carry alot of anger and frustration around with them, and instead of dealing with it appropriately, they lash out at others. Yes, we are all entitled to an opinion, but it is the way you express it and the times you choose to express it that will determine how much respect others will give you.

Coldvoice is a perfect example of why we believers get a bit exasperated when cynics and knockers have to apply their two cents worth where the value of their comments to us is one cent...maybe....could be less. It is their condescending and superior attitude that I really have an issue with. To me, they are the closed minded and ignorant ones who need to study the subject they condemn before adding their comments. Nothing is gained by speaking out of ignorance. Just learn to ignore them. Most of us do.

Maybe they just clicked on the "answers" button and saw the horoscope-related question on the first page and it caught their interest because they are synical about it. Just my two cents.

If you are 100% sure about the relevance of astrology, then why do you need to ask?
