I've heard quite a few and to be honest I can see no way background noise could be at the root leaving communication from an intelligent source though unseen presence the only logical answer. Sure, sometimes there are those that are quite muffled and open to interpretation, but others are plan as day, even answering questions asked by those doing the research. So in the end I say yes, this is a real phenomenon and should be studied on a more scientific platform than is being used today.

Same thing has been happening to me since I moved back to my old home. I thought I was losing my mind! It's like hearing voices from the dead. But the clincher was when I could almost clearly make out the rise and falls of Christmas carols. Funny thing is, as hard as I tried to focus on the whirring sound of the fan, I couldn't break from the radio sounds. THANK YOU for this answer, I will just start wearing plugs again, and that will filter the bad and leave a nice hummmm to fall asleep to. :)

I think the only way to know is to get a little recorder and go try it. You may have to try in a number of places and buy some tapes, but it would be interesting to know, unless it would scare the heck out of you if it does work and you record a scary voice.
