Hi, I am about to send in my daughter's headshot for modeling/acting & I would like to know some things that I should include. I know hobbies, special skills, & sports are good. But if you could give me more info to get my daughter IN THERE! I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Keep it short, sweet, and professional. Say that you are seeking representation, and would love to schedule an interview at their convenience. Something like that. The skills/hobbies should already be on the resume. Most agents or CDs don't have time to read cover letters, but you need to include one. Don't enclose a gift or anything cute- they hate that.

You do not necessarily have to be in a union to be represented by an agent. Some agents are strictly "union only", but certainly not all. There is independent film and theatre work which does not require being union- affiliated.

You did not indicate the city where you live. In NYC we don't send cover letters to agents, we mail photo-postcards. Agents contact those he or she wants to meet and audition. We do not send cover letters. Mail a headshot and resume. With a "note," not letter, that includes a headshot and resume and say: Please keep my daughter in mind for an interview. That's all you need. Nothing fancy. I worked for two talent agencies so I've seen it all and know what works and doesnt' work.

Make sure you send your information ONLY to agents that represent CHILDREN! Most only represent adults.
