Hey. I want to get a URL address, but it's "Parked FREE by GoDaddy.com!" What does this mean, and can I get this site?

Thanks,

the site is currently owned by someone and that is a parking page provided by godaddy.
do a whois and you can find the owner of the domain name. they might be interested in selling.

CashParking is an online domain monetization system that quickly and easily lets you earn money from your existing domain portfolio. Each time someone clicks on advertising that generates revenue on your parked pages, you share in the revenue. - GoDaddy.com

To see if the domain you are talking about is available for purchase, goto GoDaddy.com and make the search on the top of the page. However, the price of the domain may be higher than usual, because if it is parked on GoDaddy.com it is highly probable that someone has already purchased it and now wants to resell it.

Good Luck!

It means that the name for that site is registered by a vendor, in hopes of charging someone some really big money, to move off of it!

It is called "Cyber Squatting" and is actually illegal, IF you can get enough money together to hire the lawyers so you can challenge it!!!

But, don't just blame Go-Daddy! Often, someone else will give Go-Daddy money to watch a named website, so that when the renewal comes up, it is already going to switch owners, if the current one is NOT alert! Then, the 'new' owner can charge a huge fee to sell it back!

That is something like the guy whose last name is Jaguar, and Ford Motors reserved that name in a lot of the domains, and he hasn't the money to fight Ford Motor Company, worldwide, so he can get his name back!

Another guy, who is a nature advocate, has some Jaguar cats, and had a site about the preservation of them, as they are endangered. Ford Motor Company sued him all over the planet, to try to steal his website name away from him though he was there first! Years ago! Cost him a dear amount of money to keep the web site!

Yes, Ford lost, but, the 'winner' is definitely NOT the jaguar cats, as it cost him so much that could have fed and rescued many Jaguar Cats!

More reasons why I detest the Corporate Monsters and the ugly little bums, both, who cybersquats!

I believe that your NAME should not be up for grabs, but, it is!

Our "DOMAIN FOR SALE" PARKED PAGE is the perfect way to let others know that your domain name is for sale. When potential buyers type in your domain name to see if it's available, the professionally designed parked page displays with your email address so they can contact you. What could be easier? You get a colorful "For Sale" tag graphic to display your contact information to potential buyers worldwide!

You can ONLY get it from GoDaddy. They squatted on the domain name.
