your ipod might have been dropped a lot of times. there's something wrong with the screens LCD. i dont know if you can replace ipod's LCD.

your screen is broken. maybe not physiucally broken..but one of the things that makes it work (display driver..interface..wires) is broken..leaving you with the screen like that.

it can be fixed..the question is, is it worth it? it usually costs MORE to get it fixed than it does to replace it, if you're under warrenty and you didn't drop it, you might have that option..if you dropped it and developed this problem...then take it as a sign to stop doing what your friends are doing and get something better than an ipod (no, the ipod isn't the best out there, it's about in the middle)

this is a physical problem...resetting the software or anything short of replacing the screen hardware will fix it.

reset your ipod see if holding down middle button for 3t5 or until
your ipod shows the apple icon.then you release the button
let the ipod reset it self.this may help.
