I am looking to buy a new upright vacuum. What is the best one out there on the market currently? I vacuum my home frequently (including a staircase). I have a very heavy upright vacuum currently and it is hard to drag up the stairs so I am also looking for a lighter vacuum! Anyone who has bought a new vacuum this year, please respond whether or not you had a good experience with your vacuum please!
Thank you very much!

I have a big upright and a stick vac. My stick vac is a Eureka "The Boss" stick vac. I use it every day. If your big vacuum is still working, I suggest you buy this one (or one like it, although this one is the best value IMO). It converts to a hand held and has a crevice tool.

For vacuuming stairs, this would be ideal. You may need an extention cord depending on how long your stairs are. And you would have to empty the cup frequently. However, it has a good design, is powerful, safe for wood floors, light, and easy to pull out for quick pick ups.

I still use my big vacuum once a week for deep cleaning of my carpets and furniture. I didn't think I would get so much use out of the stick vac when I bought it as a backup. My floors are much cleaner and I don't have to bother with sweeping or dust mopping. I just grab my stick vac.

I used Hoovers for years but then I came accross a Eureka and I like the upright but it has a long air vacuum hose on it and that`s why I bought it. LOL

If you are looking for a high-end vacuum that will last many years, I suggest Riccar/Simplicity or Sebo. The Riccar Radiance, their top model, is about $900. The SEBO costs about $800. Both are completely sealed HEPA vacuums.
