Think of zero (0) being the "mid" point... you start at -3 or 3 points to the left of zero and go to 4+ or 4 points to the right of zero. you have moved 7 points!

The Distance Formula:

D = the square root of [(X2 – X1)2 + (Y2-Y1)2]
