It depends on factors like Ease of Use, Effectiveness, Updates, Feature Set, Ease of Installation, Help/Support.
Top anti-virus software should be easy enough for a computer novice to both use and install. The software should effectively seek out and identify virus threats, as well as clean or isolate infected files.
I feel Bit defender is the best antivirus in terms of above. It is an outstanding product with a user–friendly interface that will scan all existing files on your computer, all incoming and outgoing emails, IM transfers and all other network traffic.
This latest version of BitDefender has new features such as “Privacy Protection” for outgoing personal information, “Web Scanning” while you’re using the Internet and “Rootkit Detection and Removal,” which detects then removes hidden virus programs. And is lite on the system and even on pocket(just $25 where as Nortan is $40)
Where as Norton is also good antivirus but it is bulky(requires 160Mb to load), and not so easy as others. When i used it i got trouble in updating and it is not cleaning some infected files. When i want to uninstall it takes nearly 15 min to uninstall. And it doesnt have registry protection like in bitdefender(as most of the virus attacks on registry).

I would definetly choose BitDefender over Norton. However over both of those I recommend AVG Anti-Virus. AVG is fast, reliable, detailed (in its scanning), and up-to-date. With AVG 7.5 there is daily updates, the scanning is fast, and detailed, and with a Resident Shield (constant protection), it is always on guard for you! There is also an e-mail scanner which works with MS Outlook to scan incoming and outgoing e-mail.
It works GREAT! And it is FREE.
P.S. The test results above are OUT OF DATE. The AVG featured on there is old, and this one I am telling you about is new, and better!

BitDefender is far better.
Oh and to jibberjab your list of the most "recent" test of AVG and all the others is now outdated. AVG is now version 7.5 not 7.1 so get your facts straight before you post that.
So if you are going to get a paid one get BItDefender but a free one AVG is great. Please visit my website at http://nbgrigoryan.googlepages.com/home for computer security, advice and help!
