Salicylic acid is the chemical in the asprin that extends the live of the flowers. Researchers have not found the mechanism by which it works. That is they don't know why it works yet but that's the same with a lot of salicylic acid applications. They're not exactly sure how it lowers your body temp. But they are working on it and soon they will know.

a bayer asprin. (or any store brand of asprin) just put it in the water whenyo put the flowers in the vase and it will help them live longer.

aspirin is one of the few drugs on the market today that is virtually unchanged. it is a derivative of white willow bark...it makes the veins in our body shrink. i guess it goes the flowers with water inside and that causes the flowers to stay fresh longer.
