Like others have said using a vacuum is the way to go. Wherein you clean the gravel through a siphon and an attachment. The only thing that I would add is the new water coming in. 10% does not create a problem.
The thing is that sometimes when using the vacuum you will realize you have more waste than can be removed in one cleaning session. Don't get carried away. Fish are adaptive over time but a big change is upsetting. Specifically, 10% water change is cool. However the high the rate of water change the higher the risk of encountering problems and stressing out your fish.
It is like people we can change from winter to summer over time but a sudden change is stressful. SO you are much better with making several small changes over a period of days rather than one sudden change.

A 90 gal tank should almost never need to be cleaned. Keep the filter media clean, change it regularly. Do not feed more than the fish eat completely in a couple of minutes. Have catfish and other bottom feeders like plecostomus. Also have algea eaters in the tank. If the water seems dirty you can remove about 30 percent of the water and replace with fresh periodically. A big tank never really needs to be cleaned, if properly balance they stay clean forever.

I would get a carbon power filter for the size 90-120 gallon tank. Then every once in a while clean the carbon and siphon out some water (not to much) and then replace the water with clean water.

claning a tank is such a hassle, but it should be done.
the typical claning is to take out 10% of the water each week (so for you it would be about 9 gallons/week) and replace it. make sure that the water you add is declhorified and @ the same temperature as the one in the tank. to take out the water use a SIPHON, you can get it at the pet store. If the wall of the tanks are all dirty, buy an ALGAE SCRUBBER. You should remove 25% (22 gallons approx.) every month as well as changing the filter cardtridge.
NEVER TAKE THE DISH OUT OF THE TANK WHILE CLEANING IT! (it sounds dumb but some ppl have done it)
the way around cleaning the tank every week is to use a claning chemical that is not harmful to fish such as EASYBALANCE weekly. but still you have to clan it every month.
It is extremely important to never rip your awuarium completely as it disbalances the good bacteria that are found living in the gravel.in simple terms these bacteria break down harmful toxics that are mortal to fish.
one more thing, as you pass the siphon over the gravel (make sure to do it closely but to not touch it!) you'll see poop and food floating around. if you can't catch those by the time you've taken out the amount of water you need to take out, it's ok. the filter will cath those.
Good luck with your tank!

You need to use a gravel vacuum or a Python to clean the gravel and suck out (and replace) 25% of the water every other week. I must wonder, however, how someone could purchase such a large tank and have not the faintest idea of how to clean it. Ninety gallon tanks are generally meant for people who have fishkeeping experience.
I'm assuming it has fish in it? If so, then it is probably completely cycled by now and it should be fine to perform a water change on it.

Well first of all do u have a saltwater or freshwater tank? Second of all you need to buy a vaccum, they range from about $14 and up. You can get these at petsmart, petco or of your pet stores. You suck the water out, make sure to stir up the bottom and get all the gunk. After that take a rag or you can buy a special gadget, and wipe the glass down. NO CHEMICALS!!! Then add your water back. Be sure to buy a water treatment to get rid of the chemicals in the water. Also, I advise to buy a water treatment kit to test your water every so often. They are like 10 bucks and last forever. You can test your ph levels and such with it. Hope this helps :) If you need anymore info please email me nikki_5705@yahoo.com. I used to have tons of fish so u know lol

there are multiple reasons that your tank would additionally be turning green. that's truthfully that think ofyou've have been given a construction up of algae, that's a evidently occuring single celled plant that takes up living in a great number of aquariums as stable as ponds and lakes. with no need greater understanding approximately the place you're able to have your tank, what form of light that's getting, etc.. i'd sense which you will properly be would desire to learn out the 1st link that I even have quoted below. The appropriate reason is that the plant and leftover foodstuff concern that think ofyou've have been given interior the tank with the aggregate of light (synthetic or actual) will create the main suitable environment for algae progression. i'm in spite of the incontrovertible fact that worried abou the quantity of fish you have on your tank. the advice for fish is 3 inches according to 10 gallons, because of this you're able to have double the style of fish you're able to have for a 50 gal tank. Gold fish additionally produce a intense quantity of ammonia of their waste concern which might unbalance the pH stages interior the tank. i'd bypass to a puppy keep that comes with pH strips and verify with them to verify what they had advise. The Petco precise right here in my city would be sure the water for you as quickly as for unfastened (and of path recommend which you purchase a water equipment from them). Get some cutting-edge water shrimp and different "algae eater" form fish and shrink in basic terms a sprint on the foodstuff, next time you do a water substitute, take out a million/2 the water, once you have scraped the climate and enable it settle to the backside. stable success!
