My fiance and I are trying to conceive. We have only been trying for a month. I had been taking birth control for six years prior and I just stopped taking it in October. The last day of my period was on the 17th. Do you think my chances of getting pregnant will be good or since I was taking bc for so long that pregnancy might not happen for a while?

I've heard it can take a long time, I had a friend who tried for about two years after she stopped taking the pill. I took the pill for 3 1/2 years and got pregnant after one month (used condoms for that month then two weeks later, poof, I was pregnant!). If you want to make sure you take action while you're ovulating, you can buy the tests for that which work basically like a pregnancy test; you pee on it, then wait and see what it says... Good luck!

It might take some time but a lot of people who just miss a pill or two get pregnant so i think your chances are good but dont get discouraged if it doesnt happen this month or next

The effects of the pill go away after 4 months from stopping it.

Remember to get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.

After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex. Tell your husband to ejaculate on his inward thrust so that the sperms will shoot deep inside.

After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up with a pillow under your buttocks so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.

Get your husband to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 3 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.

sometimes when people get off the pill they conceive right away. most of the time its takes your body 1 to 2 years to get rid of it. the only person that can really let you know anything right now is your doctor.

I think it will take a few months for your body to sort itself out but its still possible since you can also get pregnant on the pill.

Honestly it could take a year or longer. Don't want to burst your bubble but six years is a lot of hormones. Good luck.
