I have a Windows 98 operating system. I can not go to certain web sites, it tells to enable my Java Scripting. I go under Internet Options, Security Tab, and I follow all the directions that the website tells me and I still can not visit the website. Do anyone out there have any suggestions for me, what else can I do? Is it a virus, spyware, malware, etc? Please help me.

Because you're using an old operating system you're also limited to old browsers.

These days sites look for a version number of JavaScript that your browser uses - if it's under that number... the site realizes that the JavaScript it's running can't be understood anyways, so it gives up... and gives you the usual brushoff.

Yes, it sucks. Big time.

On the upside, you can get a really nice computer these days for 200 bucks or so. Ask a local computer geek where he gets his computer parts... or maybe s/he'll build you one.

If / when you get a new computer, remember to try Firefox - it's small, fast, blocks pop-ups, it will copy your bookmarks and cookies over...

Firefox is really easy to use, and has over 1000 add-ons to let you do whatever you want.

Want to block banner ads? Adblock Plus
Want to have well made filters for Adblock Plus so you don't have to make them yourself? Adblock Filterset.G Updater
Want to be able to pause your music without switching to your computer's music player? FoxyTunes

You name it, someone's done it.

Adblock Plus - http://adblockplus.org/
Adblock Filterset.G Updater - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1136/
FoxyTunes - http://foxytunes.com/

You can try Firefox without uninstalling Explorer and see how it goes. It has a popup stopper and there's no need to uninstall Explorer.
You can get it from here, also check out the new photo software, V good, both free :)

also get opera. Sometimes is the only browser that does the trick, other times I need Firefox.

Make sure that you have the latest. Go to the below link and look for "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9"

Nothing you have said indicates any malware.
