Major in Liberal Arts, Psychology, or Sociology.

You can become a Social Worker, a Guidance Counselor, a Career Counselor at a college, or you could even become a doctor and provide therapy for children with a Psychology degree.

CPS in most states gives priority to Licensed Social Workers. To obtain that license you must have a degree in Social work from a regionally accredited school. I would also seriously look at programs that are geared towards obtaining a Masters in Social work. If you want to advance in CPS you will need to get your masters eventually.
