My miscarriage happened when I was 8 weeks along... the baby had passed away at 5 weeks, though. Once the doctor hears the baby's heartbeat, chances of a miscarriage decrease. Also, I hate to say it, but miscarriage is still a possibility after 12 weeks, it's just that the chances of miscarriage after 12 weeks decrease greatly. You're almost there!
Try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy. Yes, miscarriage is a possibility for pregnant women. But it's best not to dwell on it too much.
Good luck.

Unfortunately you're not safe at any point during your pregnancy. After 12 - 14 weeks your chances drop dramatically, but I had a miscarriage at 16 weeks in Jan. of this year. Most women miscarry during the first trimester and it's normal to be scared, but you can't let that fear run you, it'll stress you out and your baby can feel your stresses. Try to relax and take really good care of yourself. You can't control mother nature, but you can control how you treat yourself. Good luck!

I miscarried three times at about eight weeks. I'm not sure about the safe after 12 weeks part, though it may be called premature birth instead of a miscarriage after a certain number of weeks. I would think it would be more than 12 though as you wouldn't even be halfway.

It is more common to miscarry in the first trimester (first 12 weeks) however your chance goes down once the baby's heart starts beating. I am 17 weeks and still worry about things like that. I thought once i got passed the first trimester i would stop worrying but i didnt. Everything will be ok, just take care of yourself. Good luck.

I know you're scared, I'm 12 weeks and still scared, but don't stress too much. It's not good for your baby. If you have all the signs and symptoms and you see your dr regularly, you should be fine. However if something does happen and you miscarry (which I doubt) just know it was nothing you did and that embryo had severe chromosomal abnormalities making it impossible to survive outside the womb. Good luck and congrats!!!

I am now 14 weeks with my second baby-6th pregnancy though. And with this one, My ob did an ultrasound very early and told me that if you see a heartbeat that your chances of miscarriage are very low. And even lower as soon as you hit the second trimester, even though certain websites don't consider 2nd tri until 14 weeks. But if your baby's growing and has a strong heart beat, i'd say you're off to a good start and probably don't need to worry so much. Good luck!! Congratulations!!

Oh Dear, can you ring anyone to chat to,the people on here mean well but b&w type isn't as reassuring as talking to someone.
If you are in the U.K try NHS direct , you just asked about buying baby things didn't you, well just ignore all those answers they're only worrying you.
Phone someone/anyone for a chat,if you don't have anyone to call, call the Samaritans, they are good to talk to and they have contact numbers for all the other people who could reassure you.
Tomorrow pop into your Drs or phone them and explain how worried you are, there are Health Visitors and Midwives and all sorts of people you should be able to get support from.
Sorry you have been so worried, you will feel better after a chat .
M
PS If you can , ring your Mum

NHS Direct 0845 46 47 ( I think)

You can miscarry at any time... my mom was about 5 months when she miscarried. Just relax... some people told me I shouldn't tell anyone until that safety period, but I was so happy and comfortable about it all that I did. So just relax and stay calm- you'll get yourself worked up over nothing which can cause you to miscarry too. Try not to be stressed either. congrats and goodluck :)

if a women is to get pregnant she should take it easy the frist 3 months. that is the most stressful part for a women. you are more likely to miscarry the first 3 months than more further into your pregnancy.

honestly, just don't worry about it. whatever happens happens and there's nothing you or anyone can do to change that. your risk of miscarrying drops dramatically at 12 weeks, although it can happen at any time in your pregnancy. Just think about the things that you're doing good for yourself and the baby :) Happy pregnancy!
