At present in order I would say - Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay would be the most developed.

People say Brazil but Brazil appears most because is huge. Per capita the most developed countries in Latin America are Argentina (1st) and Chile (2nd).

Definitely, definitely Brazil, huge manufacturing base now, cars Trucks,Buses, Petroleum ( self sufficient in Petroleum), Biodiesel now as well, followed by Chile and Argentina.

One could argue Brazil. It has the largest economy in South America and has made great strides in manufacturing (I believe airplanes and pharmaceuticals play a big part). Also the government of Brazil exterts a lot of regional influence.
