My sister is considering moving her family to someplace near Birmingham (from the far North). I am curious as to what she should educate herself (and kids) on about the wildlife of the area.

There are snakes that are poisonous, such as rattlers, copperheads and water moccasins. Other than that, there are the usual things such as black widow spiders. Probably no bears, unless you get into the country then maybe black bear. Birmingham is a big city, so the wildlife is probably minimum.
