Whereas a gas engine uses 1 lb of gasoline per hp/hour, a diesel engine will do the same work with 1/2 lb of diesel fuel.
And the 20 year mechanic above me has NO idea what he is talking about!

It has more torque than a gas engine so it doesn't need to use as much fuel to get things moving and keep them moving.
