I think way too many people ask this question and the only way to know the answer is to die so you can't answer this question because any answer is technically an opinion since no one knows.

Given that we only have one universe and it has one space time continuem, the answer depends on probability.

The universe is infinite and as such contains an infinite number of probabilities, the chance that a god has come into existence is almost a certainty.
Also one must assume that since an infinite amount of time has already passed before we arrived on the scene and that Gods are by definition everliving, the question should probably be, "How many Gods are out there?".

The question arises, since there are probably an infinite number of Gods out there, do you really matter in the universe and why would a God be interested in communicating with you.

In as much as I was not around to see how everything came into being (and neither were you),I say, "I don't know ..... YET!" To assume that some god, my less than intellectual ancestors made up, instantaneously farted the universe into being, is absurd

Some religions believe in more then one god, others believe in only one god and some believe in no god. It all depends on your belief and how you feel about it.
