Our high school had a person come in and do a workshop today, involving bending spoons with your mind (I'm not joking).
It had something to do with relaxing your mind, thinking about a positive image, and mentally picturing the spoon bending. Some people who concentrated very intently actually bent it (I'm not on drugs).
What's the scientific explanation for this?

See, it's not a trick like some people believe it to be because beforehand, everyone was told to bring their own spoon from home.
People in the audience with their OWN spoons were actually able to bend it. It's not a hoax, I saw my friend do it beside me.
It has something to do with channeling energy and relaxation.

There is no explanation, because it is impossible.

Yes, it is a trick, end of subject. Here is how it is done...
The spoons he used were spoons he brought with him, because of course he would not want to waste your spoons. The spoons are made of an amalgam of zinc and led and then chromed. These "Spoons" can be made cheaply and quickly at home, not a problem and then remelted to make more. Anyway, the metal has such a low melting point that all it takes is holding the spoon in your hand and rubbing it to create a little extra friction and heat. When it hits the right temp it bends. Oooo Psychic Powers... wrong.
If the "psychic" is asked to share his spoons he simple gives the people a real spoon that cannot be "melted" as easily. Not hard to palm the spoons.
If you could really bend metal with your mind, why have those on Death Row not figured it out and escaped? Simple, because you can't bend metal with your mind. Heaven knows that inmates have time to learn the trick.
---
If this is not a trick you need to provide the exact method used for spoon bending. I have never heard or seen just anyone bend spoons with no "help". Also, new info... the benders do not need to use thier own spoons, they can bend any spoon given a few minutes to work on it.

Sorry, no. The JREF has a $a million million prize for everyone who can carry out this less than managed situations. Many fakers and frauds have tried, none were able to teach it is a real component. that is in basic terms wishful wondering.

It was probably some kind of optical illusion or the spoon was made of some weird material.

If this is what they are teaching in school, it is no wonder why the kids are getting dumber.
