I am terrified of dead fish. I can eat fish (as long as it doesn't look like a fish e.g. fish cakes), watch fish happily in a tank and swim in the sea - just don't show me a dead fish! The thought of a dead fish floating in the sea hitting against my leg for example makes me physically feel ill just thinking of it. Or even worse - if someone tried to touch me with one. In the past, I have handled pet rets, an armadillo, stick insects, snakes, terrapins etc. I have been stung by a bee and insects don't worrry me. Why can't I overcome this phobia?

I am exactly the same!!! I actually quite like spiders, snakes and rodents but i cannot stand fish - particularly if they are dead - and lobsters, crabs etc. I can't even see pictures of them...

I wouldn't say i had a phobia of fish but i can not eat fish or shell fish in any form as it makes me feel sick just thinking of it. I hate going into the sea and if sea weed or fish swim around my feet or legs i have to leave the water i hate it.
I have beautiful tropical fish as pets and love watching fish in fish ponds and fish on t.v docs but the thought of having to swim with them fills me with fear. I have never been touched with a dead fish but i don't think it would bother me. I have a really really bad phobia of sharks so i think that is where my thing with fish comes from not sure tho. Just start slowly and keep it simple think of dead fish then build up to looking at pictures of dead fish to going to asda and looking at the fresh fish display. I have tried to over come my fear of sharks this way and while i was on holiday i even went to see some in the wildlife park we went to but i still couldn't go in the sea.
Good luck

Fish gross me out a bit - I think its because I used to have goldfish when I was a kid and they'd die and float in the bowl. Yuk! Makes my skin crawl just to think of it!

I'm vegetarian but even when I wasn't I never liked the taste of fish.

My phobia is of vomiting (me or anyone else) which has made being pregnant REALLY hard!!

wow... very interesting.

Once I heard to overcome your fear is to embrace it. I'm not sure sitting in a pile of dead fishes would help you or not, but you certainly could try a small step at a time.
