I like it that bettas are colorful and don't need much space, and I like it that goldfish can be in ponds and get big and are beautiful. Which do you like more, and why?

And please, it annoys me when people say "I like bettas better, because they can live in tiny vases and they are cleaner." It says to me that all you care about is having a fish that is very low maintenence and don't care about taking care of a fish.

I have both so it's kind of hard to pick but if I had to I guess it would have to be goldfish. Bettas can be very active and have their own personalities, if in a proper size tank and they both come in all different types and colors. But I think goldfish have just a little more personality and of course they are active, especially when they know they are going to be fed. Its kind of like a dog and cat, a dog is always there and wants to play (goldfish) and a cat will play but likes to do its own thing (betta), I also have both a cat and a dog.

You know Bettas live longer if they are put in a fish tank with other fish. I had a betta that lived for about 6 years no lie. He was in a 55 gal tank with some tetras, and other fish!

I definatly like Bettas better. I love the colors. And how pretty they are!

If I had a decision between both i'd opt for bettas. they seem to be a lot purifier than goldfish and in my opinion they seem a lot more effective perfect than goldfish. i'd say the bettas are in basic terms like the dogs of the fish international. if you're effective to them they'll swim previous your locate as if they want to be puppy. it really is likewise diverse interesting putting a reflect next to there tank and observing them flare up at it. Bettas might want to be with more effective fish than goldfish can. in a lot of situations the betta will be effective to the different fish yet it really is not mutual. often times the little fish will nip on the bettas lengthy tail. If this happens you may want to take the betta and placed it in its own tank. make certain the tank is enormous adequate for it (5 Gal. on the minimum). The small bowls they promote them in might want to easily be used for shipping not for a lengthy time period habitat for it.

I would want a goldfish because they live longer and you can have more fish with a goldfish where a Betta would kill the other fish.

What people mean when they say "cleaner" is the beta fish has less "fish waste", which equals less stink. Gold fish excrete a lot, which in small aquarium becomes very stinky, very fast, no matter how dedicated you are to maintenence.
If this is your first fish, I definitly recommend Beta.

I would go with a gold fish because they are better to look at and you can put more than one in a tank.
