Pap tests do not hurt, I remember my first one when I was 16 - I was just as nervous as you are, thankfully I had (actually still have) the greatest best friend ever and she volunteered to come with me so that I wouldn't be as nervous. I made it out to be much scarier than it really was. Depending on which state you live in, your doctor CANNOT release any sexual health information to your family if you are over 14. Why do you have to lie to your mother though? I'm sure she would completely understand if you talked to her about not being a virgin. Since you are sexually active, I highly recommend being tested for STD's and HIV. It's just a small swab on your cervix while you're being examined - a lot of young people think that they don't need to, that it won't happen to them, but it can. If you have respect for yourself and care about yourself, you'll have yourself tested every year when you go in for your exam. It's the mature, responsible thing to do - this way you're protecting yourself and your partner. And please please please always use a condom!!!
Sorry I got off track of the pap exam, but I was 16 once . . .

Getting a pap test doesn't necessarily hurt. They do use an instrument to hold you open, it squeezes (slight pressure) but doesn't hurt. Then they use a long tool than gently scrapes cells from your uterus which they then put on a clear slide, this they use later to test for abnormal cells such as cancer or other diseases. When they scrape it's like getting a shot, a little uncomfortable, but doesn't hurt.
Yes they can tell if you have had sex as your hymen, a small membrane, separating the vagina from the uterus has been broken. Sometimes the hymen can be broken even from horseback riding, or injuring yourself riding a guys bike.
However, you should be protected by the HIPA laws as they are the new medical laws that require medical professionals from discussing any medical things with anyone, including your mom.
Getting a pap test is VERY important!! Good luck

PAP test generally are not supposed to hurt. However, there is often some discomfort. If you choose to have your mom go into the room with you, what ever you tell the doctor, she will hear. you are able to request a private meeting with the physician. This information (unless it pertains to abuse or the doctor feels you are 'at risk') is to be kept confidential by them.
Not being honset with your parents can be stressful and not entirely healthy (it can weigh on you for a long time). I would consider coming clean with mom, and that way you could have her in with you for moral support

They cannot reliably tell if you've had sex unless you go in with semen actually in your vagina. Which, by the way, you should not do, as it can mess up your pap results. If you are having unprotected sex (OMG plz don't), take two days off before your test. Your hymen is probably gone if you have had intercourse, but since it can be broken in so many other ways, it's not proof of your lack of virginity.
Your doctor should not tell your mom if you are not a virgin. They may ask her to leave the room so they can consult with you in private. Be honest with them.

a pap test really doesn't hurt it's mostly uncomfortable. especially when the dr. puts the speculum inside, but if it does hurt tell the dr. so that he/she knows to be more gentle. also tell the dr. that its your first pap and the dr. should explain the procedure. u can also ask ur mom to go in with u while u have the exam. about the other question, whatever u tell the dr. is confidential and can tell ur mom n e thing u dont want her to know. unless he/she thinks that she should really know. question for u does ur mom know y u want birth control?

Its none of your Moms business if you a virgin or not, they shouldn't tell her and yes they can tell. But when you do go in just tell the doc that your sensitive down there and not to open the thingy too much cause your scared it might hurt and they'll open it as little as possible. You should be okay! It just very annoying and gross! But make sure you do your yearly check up they re very important!

I've had about 50 and they are a piece of cake...tell the doctor you want the virgin speculam which will not open you up uncomfortably...and when they stick the swab in it itches like hell for the split second it rubs the back of your cervex and then it's gone...
Now the rectal part of it freaks alot of women out..gloved finger, well lubricated, inserted in the anus for a second...just exhale when dr. inserts...

My suggestion is in basic terms to loosen up, that is uncomfortable, yet quick, and must be discomfort loose. that is nice that you'll head notwithstanding if you're a virgin to substantiate you do not have cervical cancer. desire this helps!
